Jeff Taylor, Monster.Com Founder, Has A New Job

Jeff Taylor, founder of online job search engine Monster.com, has a new job: but his new venture, the exact nature of which remains undisclosed, won't be in job or employment-related fields.

In 1994 Taylor founded Monster Board, an employment search online bulletin board that became Monster.com, which came to be used by nearly half of the country's human resource departments. The next year TMP Worldwide Inc. purchased Monster.com and eventually renamed the entire operation Monster Worldwide.

Taylor's new venture, which will be partially funded by Monster Worldwide, is not being disclosed due to competitive reasons, Monster Worldwide said. Taylor will retain links with the firm he founded in his role as "strategic advisor," the company said in a statement on Monday.

"Jeff Taylor will long be remembered for recognizing the potential of the Internet to transform the way people find jobs and companies find talent," said Monster Worldwide's chairman and chief executive officer Andrew McKelvey in a statement Monday. Taylor's Monster creation grew into a global network consisting of 25 different local languages in 23 countries. Monster Worldwide reported revenues of $845.5 million in its last annual financial report.
