Leaks On Next Version Of Droid For Verizon

The Motorola Droid on Verizon's network has been a very popular device, so much so that in much of the public's eye, the Droid is the Android phone. It is about six months old though which is approaching middle-age for smartphones. Fortunately for us, there are leaks on the next generation Droid from Motorola and it too has Verizon branding.

The Motorola Droid on Verizon's network has been a very popular device, so much so that in much of the public's eye, the Droid is the Android phone. It is about six months old though which is approaching middle-age for smartphones. Fortunately for us, there are leaks on the next generation Droid from Motorola and it too has Verizon branding.HowardForums has an image from wmrussell that looks like the owner's manual. The device appears to be what has gone under the code name Shadow. The specs are:

 • 4.1 inch WVGA touch screen display, capacitive of course. I've also seen 4.3 inch specs, but either way, it is a decent sized screen.

 • It will likely have Android 2.1 on it, but should be upgradable to 2.2, also known as Froyo.

 • OMAP 3630 Processor. Will probably run at 720MHz

 • 2GB of memory

 • 8MP Camera capable of 720p recording

 • 1080p output via an HDMI port

 • MotoBLUR interface

All of that comes in a 9mm thick shell. The only potential downside I'm seeing in the specs is the MotoBLUR interface. Not all reviews I've seen have been favorable.

The rumor mill puts availability in July, so if you have been holding out for a Droid, you might want to hold out a bit longer until you can put a Shadow in your hands and test it out.
