LogiTech Thursday launched a low-cost video conferencing and chat hardware kit that includes a Webcam and audio headset with microphone for under $30.

QuickCam Chat, which retails for $29.95, includes a 640-by-480 pixel resolution Webcam that sits or clips on the top of the monitor, and a bundled headset.

The camera is compatible with both USB 1.1 and 2.0, said LogiTech.

LogiTech provided some of the technology integrated into the newest edition of Microsoft's instant messaging client, MSN Messenger 7.0, and the Swiss-based company touted support for Microsoft's IM service in its rollout of the low-priced video kit.
