The web site of a New Mexico car dealership that also sells Segways, Don Chalmers Ford, may have posted 2005 Segway products in its online store. The site offered the new models, which the site said will go on sale February 5, including a $5,995 four-wheel Centaur, a new $4,995 all-terrain Segway, a new $4,995 general purpose Segway (the i180), and some customization options, including custom colors. Less than two hours after we went public with the posting, all pictures and information related to the new Segway products were removed from the Don Chalmers Web site. It's not clear whether the posting of the product information was an error or a hoax -- or something else entirely.
