For many organizations, the fourth quarter is the time when budgets are getting finalized and higher-ups are giving the stamp of approval to the technology roadmaps you've worked so hard to build.
Last week, Gartner released its list of strategic tech trends for 2017 and highlighted CIO priorities for the year ahead.
According to the research firm, worldwide spending on IT products and services is slated to reach $3.5 trillion in 2017.

Meanwhile, studies from consulting firms Accenture and Ernst & Young warn of a changing technology ecosystem that puts IT in danger of being marginalized.
