Possible Windows Mobile 6.5 Second Edition Screen Shots
Last week I told you about Windows Mobile's dual strategy and indicated there may be a refresh of WinMo 6.5 in the early spring. The rumor is getting stronger because there have been some screen shots of a device clearly running WinMo 6.5, but with some tweaks that differ from what we've seen.
Last week I told you about Windows Mobile's dual strategy and indicated there may be a refresh of WinMo 6.5 in the early spring. The rumor is getting stronger because there have been some screen shots of a device clearly running WinMo 6.5, but with some tweaks that differ from what we've seen.The::unwired has managed to round up a screen shot of the new look and a video of a very late build of WinMo 6.5 to compare it to.
For WinMo fans, you'll immediately notice that the Windows flag has been removed from the Start Menu and instead placed in the lower left. This isn't a Standard device (sans touch screen) though, which does have the flag in the lower left because the upper left still has the "Start" button for the menu.
The upper bar also has an overlay of some of the more common Start bar icons, like battery level, signal strength and volume. They are fat-finger friendly now but having them pop out, presumably by touching the Start bar, doesn't hide what is beneath them.
There are a few other icons at the bottom - one for locking the device and the "X" icon is likely the way to hide the currently active application and show what is beneath it.
This is all speculation though. Worst case scenario, this is a mockup. Best case though, and it is a peek at what WinMo 6.5's refresh looks like.
