The U.S. Postal Service has hired E-learning content provider KnowledgeNet.com Inc. to enhance its online training for an initial target audience of 100,000 postal workers.

The National Center For Employee Development (NCED), the technical training center for the Postal Service, will use KnowledgeNet.com's asynchronous, off-the-shelf technical training in subjects ranging from Microsoft Office to Cisco networking. Employees across the nation will be able to access KnowledgeNet courses via the Web.

"The post office works around the clock in three different shifts," says Steve Mosier, manager of NCED. "Having training available on all three shifts isn't always easy. KnowledgeNet very much improves flexibility and offers different formats for greater options."

NCED also will use KnowledgeNet Live, instructor-led online training, and KnowledgeNet Express, prerecorded instructor-led courses, to increase training options from its existing instructor-led and CD-ROM learning format.
