I told you in the January 28 edition of the Personal Tech Pipeline newsletter that Academy Award nominees will be given gift baskets full of goodies that include an unreleased black ultra-thin Motorola RAZR smart phone.

Now Sprint is getting into the act and reportedly plans to add an unreleased Sprint PCS Samsung smart phone to the Oscar gift basket. Details are sketchy, but the new phone sports MPEG4 video capability and "advanced voice-recognition" technology.

Last year's Oscar gift bag was worth some $100,000, and included Motorola's V600 handset and other gadgets, as well as cosmetics and other ego-oriented products.

I'll keep you posted with any new developments in the Oscar gift-basket.

The Oscars will air Sunday.
