Toshiba Reveals The Libretto U100 Mini-Notebook

Weighing 2.16 pounds, the libretto U100 offers mobile users a compact and lightweight notebook that offers full computing functionality, Toshiba says.

Toshiba's Digital Products Division announced Wednesday the launch of the libretto U100 mini-notebook computer.

Weighing 2.16 pounds, the libretto U100 offers mobile users a compact and lightweight notebook that offers full computing functionality. The new libretto U100 has a 7.2-inch diagonal wide-screen LCD and integrates an LED backlight for the LCD screen.

The mini-notebook offers a half-size 802.11b/g mini-PCI wireless card and 1.8-inch 60GB hard disk drive. It features Toshiba's EasyGuard technology, a series of hardware and software innovations that enhance mobile security, system integrity, network connectivity and overall ease of use, such as hard disk drive protection and fingerprint authentication.

The notebook incorporates the Intel Pentium M processor Ultra Low Voltage 753 (1.20Ghz, 2MB L2, 400Mhz FSB) and Intel's 855GME system chipset. It also incorporates a 1.8-inch 60 GB hard drive, 512 MB standard 333 MHz memory, and Microsoft Windows XP Professional. There is an optional libretto DVD Dock with a DVD SuperMulti optical disk drive accessory.

The libretto U100 has a suggested retail price of $1,999.
