Verizon To AT&T: We Will Crush Your LTE Network
Not only did Verizon Wireless CEO Lowell McAdam talk about some upcoming devices for the network, he also took the opportunity to talk some serious smack about the quality of AT&T's network. Ouch!
Not only did Verizon Wireless CEO Lowell McAdam talk about some upcoming devices for the network, he also took the opportunity to talk some serious smack about the quality of AT&T's network. Ouch!McAdam totally harshed on AT&T, there's no nice way to say it. Here's what he said.
Dig number 1: "In the first quarter, we drove 250,000 miles and the throughputs we saw on our network were significantly better than AT&T's."
Niiice. Verizon's speed and bandwidth advantage is no laughing matter.
Dig number 2: "The important factor for us is that we want to move very quickly with one conversion to 4G."
Another good one. Just yesterday, AT&T detailed its plans to double the speeds of is 3G network from 3.6Mbps to 7.2Mbps. AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson admitted in an interview with Walt Mossberg that there have been demand issues taxing the network. Verizon plans to go from CDMA-EVDO Rev. A straight to LTE at 8-12Mbps.
Dig number 3: "We will have double the spectrum depth in most markets, and the physics is that the ceiling for their network will be the floor for our network when it comes to speeds ... when we get to 4G, there will be no question [who is the fastest.]"
That's classic. Basically, he's saying that even though both companies plan LTE for their fourth generation wireless networks, Verizon's will be better.
