International mobile-networking company Vodafone has been criticized after a relationship was exposed between the company and two streakers who butted in on an Australian rugby match.

The men, nude but for painted-on Vodafone logos, ran onto the field during a recent cup match between Australia and New Zealand, interrupting a crucial New Zealand penalty kick. Australian Rugby Union officials condemned the act as an error in judgment.

After the incident, Vodafone Australia managing director Grahame Maher revealed his advance knowledge, saying he'd given a man he knows only as "Brett" the go-ahead to pull off a PR stunt. But Maher says he didn't realize exactly what was planned and hadn't intended to disrupt the match.

The company is displaying naked remorse. "Vodafone does not condone streaking," a representative says. "We apologize unreservedly."
