According to a new survey, the most-wanted high-tech toys for technology professionals this holiday season are HDTVs and video game players. But what's at the top of CIOs' wish lists? And it's no surprise that a survey by the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) found high-definition televisions the most desired item among its tech worker constituency: That's the case with the general populace, as well. But CIOs might have more high-minded aspirations, such as:
>> A coherent outsourcing strategy that weighs the cost savings versus the project management problems and staffing issues.
>> A most-cost-effective, least-disruptive way to migrate to Vista.
>> A comprehensive approach to virtualization that includes emerging desktop virtualization technology and the (underestimated) impact on software licenses.
>> On a personal note, a clear career trajectory, including your next stop (COO?).
These are just some suggestions for appropriate gifts for the CIO who has (almost) everything. So, what's on your Christmas list this year? If there were one tech-related wish you could have granted -- an issue resolved, a strategy enforced -- what would it be?
