With vendors making a hard push to capture the SMB printing market, the results of the a new survey identify the printing pain points for small and midsize businesses.According data cited by HP, the SMB market for printers is expected to grow to $81 billion my 2013. That's enough money to turn heads of any vendor in the space and both Dell and HP are making strong plays to capture the hearts, minds, and toner of small and midsize businesses. The commonality between value propositions for these two companies is extensive. Both tout simplicity, ease of use, customer support, and trot out terms such as "purpose-built." Dell claims the industries lowest-cost of printing. HP trumpets ease of install and energy-efficiency. Warranties and financing options...check.
Based on a report just out from another player in the printing wars, Lexmark, hammering at the cost of printing is a surefire path to grab SMBs attention. Last year, between June and November, MarketTools conducted a survey on behalf of Lexmark to identify the leading printing problems that small and midsize businesses encounter. The result is the following, albeit unsurprising, top 5 printing pains (Lexmark, of course, has a solution to each): Cost of printing consumables Cost of print media Paper jams Maximizing ink and toner use Replenishing printing supplies More date from the Lexmark survey is available here.
