At the Boxworks 2012 conference in San Francisco, Box general manager Whitney Bouck said during her keynote that "content is the center of critical business processes--content is the currency of modern businesses and it needs to be protected."

Bouck encouraged Box customers to think bigger than sharing--and "re-invent" the way they do business.

For instance, Box is becoming more global, with traction picking up in Brazil and Japan. Bouck said that companies have to think more globally, either because they are multinational or expanding to other parts of the world.

Several partners took the stage, including Nick Brown, senior VP of mobile for SAP. Brown said that Box is enabling new APIs for the enterprise. SAP's enterprise security product includes mobile device management for corporate and BYOD scenarios and also manages applications.

To ensure the protection of content on mobile phones, Box has introduced a new dashboard, with integration with GoodData. The dashboard lets administrators record and monitor activity to see how the system is being used, including how many users are currently in it.
