CA Inc. on Friday said it has upgraded its AllFusion Modeling Suite with a new generalized data-modeling engine.

The patented GDM engine, which has been embedded in the suite's AllFusion ERwin Data Modeler, delivers model consistency and full session undo/redo/reverse and model change management capabilities, officials with the Islandia, N.Y., software maker said. The new technology provides better control of database architecture and improves optimization of database design.

Additional enhancements include out-of-the-box support for Oracle 10g and 9i databases, and a redesigned "complete compare" capability that enables users to analyze the potential impact of database design changes among any combination of models, scripts, and databases.

The AllFusion suite comprises modular components that present an integrated environment for automating design processes, synchronizing data models, troubleshooting architectural issues and validating end-user functionality.

Data from the ERwin Data Modeler can be exported to the AllFusion Process Modeler and linked to business process models, providing business and technical analysts with insight into database structure and dependencies. The modeler also integrates with the AllFusion Data Model Validator to provide quality assurance capabilities through model semantic checking and correction, and with the AllFusion Model Manager to help coordinate the development and maintenance of large models among several development team members.

Pricing for the upgraded suite was not disclosed.
