DoD Awards $37 Million For Video Technology
Omnitec Solutions will provide the armed forces with streaming content services.
The U.S. Department of Defense has awarded a $37 million, four-year contract to Omnitec Solutions for its online videos.
The government solutions partner of The FeedRoom will help provide live streaming video and digital asset management to the Defense Department through Defense Media Activity. DMA is a new centralized public-affairs organization, handling global information and communications, for all Defense branches. The FeedRoom's video solutions and Omnitec's services will serve the secretary of defense and other military leaders.
Mark Portu, president and CEO of The FeedRoom, said the contract reaffirms the company's position in the federal market and extends its partnership with Omnitec, under which the companies provide on-demand video for The Pentagon Channel and the U.S. Marine Corps.
"As new sites come online, the opportunity for us to increase our footprint in DoD properties is immense, and represents an important next step in our growth," Portu said in a statement released Wednesday.
Omnitec's contract covers software solutions, new media integration, and support to upgrade thousands of Defense Web sites. The department plans to consolidate and modernize the Web sites to eliminate administrative, hardware, and bandwidth redundancies; improve communications; and save money.
"The DMA is one of the largest contract awards we've received," Morris Brown, president and CEO of Omnitec Solutions, said in a statement. "As part of the rigorous selection process, DMA sought a Web video provider who could effectively support hundreds of government Web sites, deliver high levels of service, and ensure Section 508 compliance."
The FeedRoom Enterprise Video Platform 4.0 software as a service is a scalable video-publishing system that integrates with other content management platforms, network security standards, and reporting and analytics software. It supports customizable video players, including FeedRoom Access, a Section 508-compliant solution for users with disabilities.
