Open Source Performance Management Debuts

Adaptive Planning, which has provided collaborative performance management software for budgeting, forecasting, and reporting to the middle market since 2004, today announced that its software is now the first open source performance management solution, available on SourceForge.

Besides being open source, the other unique aspect of Adaptive Planning's eponymous offering is that the company can host it or it can be deployed in a customer's in-house data center (yet still maintained by Adaptive Planning within its software-as-a-service model). The software boasts a spreadsheet-like user interface; standard sheets for planning expenses and revenues; a specialized personnel planning sheet; formula-based modeling; and management of organizational hierarchies and user access rights. It can be downloaded and installed for individual use, as well as configured to provide web-based support for departmental teams or entire companies.

The software runs on an Oracle database and works with the Pentaho business intelligence platform. The Express version of the software is free. The enterprise edition is about $1,000 per user for an annual subscription.
