WE by Spigit is a small and midsize business version of the company's enterprise-level "innovation software." The platform enables various methods of teamwork and collaboration to identify good ideas from employees. The idea behind Spigit's platform is that a company's employees often have good ideas that can benefit the organization, but as a company grows, it gets more difficult to bring those ideas to the surface and evaluate them. "When a company exceeds fifty employees, there needs to be a better way other than email, spreadsheets, suggestion boxes, and Post-It notes to capture these new ideas and surface the best ones for adoption," according to Spigit's CEO and co-founder Paul Pluschkell.
WE by Spigit (that's "we" as in "us," not an acronym) lets employees post ideas to a sort of persistent bulletin board, where other employees can comment on them, rate them, vote on the best ones, and so on. The software uses algorithms to identify the most valuable contributors (by number and length of comments, for example, though it can also take points off for trying to dominate the conversation) and give their votes greater weight. The platform supplies analytical tools that enable managers to identify and track the best ideas and top contributors. Besides the common commenting area and each employee's own page, the platform will also eventually support blogs and discussion boards, as the enterprise version already does.
WE for Spigit is software-as-a-service (SaaS), which lets SMBs roll it out without a large initial investment or lengthy installation period. The price is roughly $10 per user per month, and a 30-day free trial is available.
