Hardware
Hardware is making a comeback!

After ten years of software domination and everything moving to the cloud, I think that devices and the proliferation of them is going to be a great thing. The previous decade was necessary to make way for wearables. I'm excited to see what kinds of cool devices will come our way, especially in the VR space.

You have to make hardware if you want some barrier against major software companies who can create the same app with better distribution.

Ah, a lot of chips are going to flow into the cloud
In fact the growing appetite for services through software will power a large part of this boom, not small devices. They will flow out of the cloud, powered by servers running new generations of chips and designed to be lean and mean machines. Cloud servers are not the same thing as personal computers, even though the former evolved out of the latter. Much investment is going to go into producing cloud servers on a massive scale.
