Initiative in Brazil
Hi, my name is Leonardo Rios and I'm a partner at Plugar, a competitive intelligence company in Brazil. Last month we launched a new product called MonitorGov (www.monitorgov.com.br), that gather information in Transparancy and Procurement Portals of the Brazilian Government.

It's the first initiative in Brazil to understand how government spend our money and how can we predict his spending. The website is in portuguese, but if anyone wants more information, can send me a e-mail.

Congrats for the article.

Best Regards,

Leonardo Rios

Re: When will plentiful facts be enough facts?
Clearly, the path to good spending is very long. With new technologies, and especially the Internet, one could easily start consultations before each expenditure exceeds a certain dollar amount. In a city, it would be a good start to do that.

When will plentiful facts be enough facts?
I've often thought that a better informed public opinion would support "good" spending by the government, such as renewal of bridges and infrastructure, and prevent "bad" spending, such as a Congressman's favorite, high profile home district project that is not a real priority, if they knew more about it. But reading about USAFact makes me think we may still have a long ways to go.
