Reassuring?
Do Jan Koum's comments reassure any WhatsApp users?

Re : WhatsApp Founder Slams Facebook Privacy Concerns
There can be hardly any doubt in Jan Koum's resolve regarding privacy. He can be termed as credible when he talks about privacy. But I wonder what leverage he would have, if any, over Facebook after the deal is complete? He kept WhatsApp pretty simple and straight forward under his leadership but one tends to be skeptical about the role he can play after the acquisition.

That, of course, is the big question. Both he and Zuckerberg seem pretty firm in their stance that nothing will change when the acquisition is finalized, and it would be a pretty big error if they were to go back on their word. Privacy pundits seem to think it's a very possible reality.

Re : WhatsApp Founder Slams Facebook Privacy Concerns
@ Kristin Burnham, not by a great deal! He definitely stood up to his ideals as the founder and leader of WhatsApp. But when WhatsApp becomes a subsidiary of Facebook, things will be drastically different. It would be surprise of they don't become different. It will be very difficult to avoid the temptation that 450 million users of WhatsApp provide regarding marketing opportunity.
