Kudos to the new CEO for boosting R&D, unlike other IT companies that actually brag to financial analysts that they've reduced R&D expense.

HP is on a slow death march. The long term employees of HP are mostly gone and the company is highly H1B infested. HP is going to end up like a downsized IBM aka Indian Business machines. However, it appears that HP will be more in China than India.

She is focused on the next decade because it is almost a certainty that the next few quarters are going to be messy. Itanium, BCS, is disintegrating. All of their businesses are commoditized and will be squeezed. HP needs to strike out with a vision in a particular area, as opposed to being mediocre everywhere. They should focus on building a networking business that is viable on its own. They could undercut Cisco by 25% and still make great margins.
