Meet Romi Mahajan, Interop’s Business of IT Track Chair
Interop’s Business of IT track chair Romi Mahajan has developed a host of sessions for Interop New York to help IT leaders propel their businesses and organizations forward.
Romi Mahajan chairs Interop’s Business of IT track, which focuses on the importance of collaboration between lines of business and IT. Mahajan has worked with Interop for eight years in almost every capacity: as a customer, a partner, a friend, and now as an advisory board member and track chair.
“My track is dedicated to the simple notion that in today’s world, IT and the business are synonymous,” said Mahajan in an interview.
Mahajan brings over a decade of experience working at large technology organizations such as Microsoft. He’s spent the last ten years advising, investing in, and guiding companies. He currently advises CEOs in five different sectors. All of this experience guides his efforts as the Business of IT track chair.
“I do a lot of thinking and writing about the role of IT in propelling modern business and organizations forward,” said Mahajan, who has written articles for online publications such as Adage.com, and InformationWeek.com. He’s also the author of two books on marketing, “Cool is for Fools: The Poetry of Marketing” and “To Thine Own Self, Honesty in Marketing.”
Mahajan sees cloud, mobile, social and analytics disrupting the way enterprises do business. Several sessions in his track reflect this disruption, including Moving the Internet of Things from Hype to Business Reality and Outsourcing, Virtualization and Cloud Computing- A Sign of the Broken Relationship Between IT and The Business?.
Other trends, such as the hybridizing of technology and business roles, said Mahajan, will be reflected in sessions No CIO Ever Got Promoted For... and IT Benchmarking: Why You Don’t Do It But Should!.
“Technology suffuses almost all aspects of business relationships,” said Mahajan. “These trends, in a way, make my track a no-brainer!”
“Interop provides a vital community for me as I grow both professionally and personally,” said Mahajan of his longstanding involvement with the event. Join Romi for his Business of IT track at Interop from September 30 to October 2 at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City. More information is available here.
