With the reboot of the Star Wars franchise right around the corner, and the holiday shopping season in full swing, what better way to make the geek in your life feel special than with a gift of Han Solo carbonate fringe or Stormtrooper oven mitts.

Christmas is coming early for science fiction fans and Star Wars fanatics, as the latest chapter in the space opera hits theaters Friday, Dec. 18, surrounded by an almost unimaginable level of anticipation.

With many fans still trying to forget the CGI, slapstick-fueled messes that were the last three Star Wars films, director JJ Abrahams is looking to get the series back on track with The Force Awakens, which hearkens back to the practical effects found in George Lucas's original trilogy.

However, what will remind Star Wars fans of the three prequel films is the inevitable crush of marketing, promotional tie-ins, and merchandise available for purchase.
