Taking The MBA Track To New Heights

An online university is giving away a scholarship for the winning essay written by extreme athletes.
Live an extreme life--get a free online education. That's the tactic Jones International University, an accredited online school, is deploying to get new learners to enroll in its Internet degree programs.

The university, along with MonsterLearning, the training and certification prep division of job-board Monster.com, is hosting a contest for people who perform "extreme jobs" like firefighting and car racing. Contestants must submit a 500-word essay describing how they would fit learning into their career and lifestyle. The best essayist will qualify for an $18,000 scholarship that must be used to pay for a degree program that the university offers. Jones International has 28 E-learning programs, including MBA and Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. All entries must be received by Sept. 15. The winner will be notified by Oct. 11.

University and MonsterLearning execs say people with challenging careers are ideal candidates for E-learning, as long as they have a notebook computer and Internet access. For more information visit, http://ooh.monster.com/extremelearning/
