Samsung Unveils 500-GB Mobile Hard Drive

Samsung is a few weeks away from shipping to retail a 500-GB mobile hard drive that could be paired to provide notebook computers with as much as 1 TB of storage.The 2.5-inch Spinpoint M6 consists of three 167-GB platters and fits into the chassis of commercial and multimedia notebooks. The drive costs $299, making it affordable for SMBs -- the majority of which say they rely on mobile devices to conduct business and plan to increase their spending on related technologies this year, according to recent bMighty.com Research (PDF; registration required).
