Percuity Enters Asset Management Software Market

Percuity LLC on Monday made its transformation from the Y2Kservices market to the IT asset-management software market with the release of Asset360, an application for gathering information on desktop asset usage and performance.

Asset360 automates the process of studying the performance of IT systems and grew out of the Percuity staff's experience with Y2K projects, says Tom Sechler, Percuity's VP of business strategy. Percuity, formed in September, is composed primarily of staff from Greenwich Mean Time-User Technology Associates LC, a professional services firm specializing in Y2K analysis and systems remediation.

Asset360, which builds upon the basic software inventory capabilities offered by GMT-UTA's Check 2000 Y2K software, includes components such as electronic software distribution, software and hardware inventory, software metering, reporting, decision support, and remote control. Percuity also designed Asset360 to run over TCP/IP, making it independent of individual desktop operating systems, such as Windows NT and Novell, according to Ash Rofail, Asset360's chief software architect. "If the network goes down, network administrators can still monitor use of desktop applications," he says.

UTA has been testing a pilot version of Asset360 since the first week of January to determine its capability to facilitate help desk staff in solving user problems remotely, measuring which applications are most popular among UTA's user base, and inventorying applications throughout the enterprise. "Inventorying software is very important in preparing for audits," says Matt Estes, a consulting engineer testing Asset360 for UTA. "Sometimes, you'll find 100 copies of an application when you've only purchased 80."

Asset360, available through Percuity resellers, is priced starting at $599.90 for a 10-user license.
