Under the extension, CSC will continue to provide software application development and maintenance services to John Hancock through May, 2011. The software allows John Hancock to administer more than one million fixed and variable annuity policies. The extension is worth $50 million and covers services to be delivered over the next four years, CSC said.
Separately, CSC said on Thursday that it has finalized an agreement to assume control of a portion of work on the U.K. National Health Service's IT modernization program that had previously been outsourced to Accenture. CSC said the nine-year contract to help modernize IT systems in the northeast and east of England is worth up to $3.73 billion. Accenture has said delays implementing the program caused it to pull out.
