Interop Challenges IT Gender Gap

Interop commits to gender diversity in tech by actively recruiting women speakers and creating a female-friendly conference.

The lack of gender diversity is a problem in the technology industry. The disparity between male and female tech professionals is particularly apparent at technology conferences.

Selena Larson of the Daily Dot recently wrote about the dearth of female award winners at the 2015 Crunchies, and CES came under fire this year for its lack of gender diversity.

Interop is committed to helping close the gender gap in IT and creating a female-friendly conference.

While there’s more to be done, Interop is taking concrete steps to address the gender divide, including actively seeking out female speakers, offering leadership sessions on diversity, and developing networking events for women in IT.

"Diverse talent is a key tenet of business success,” said Interop General Manager Jennifer Jessup. “We're proud to serve as a proponent for the diversity movement in our tech community and will confront the challenges within employees' career development and managements' talent search in an open forum.”

In honor of International Women’s Day on March 8, we’re highlighting our female-led sessions and programs all week. Below is a partial list of these sessions and programs. To see the full Interop Las Vegas agenda here.
