Furniture For Health
"Sitting is the new smoking" is overwrought as health advice, but it contains a kernel of truth. Employers are beginning to encourage employees to get up and move throughout the day, and furniture manufacturers are responding with designs that contain sensors which can tell the employee how much time they've spent in one spot. At CES, HumanScale showed desks and seats complete with sensors and a software suite in order to collect and display the information. The company was quick to point out that managers can only see information collected on a department level, and that its products are not meant to tell the boss every time you leave your desk.
