Sure, Sprint is struggling in the wake of poor service since its Nextel merger, but for power users, Simply Everything is simply a much better deal than the $99 unlimited voice deals announced by other services last week.
If and when other carriers follow suit, this kind of deal may be enough for many people to dump their wired phones and laptops and and live entirely on their hand-held mobile devices. In fact, I'd pretty much recommend that busy always-connected owners and execs at small and midsize companies consider doing just that.
Here's the thing, though. If it's a good deal for us, it's a good deal for everyone else, too. As customers drop their land lines and leave their laptops in favor of smartphones, their business and entertainment requirements will inevitably evolve, as will the most effective ways to market to them.
We've already started down this path, and the pace will only accelerate from here. Sprint may be trying to do nothing more than top its competitors, but this could be big.
