Then November 6, 2009 hits. Verizon was advertising the Droid heavily leading up to the launch date and the US map is literally on fire. The entire eastern seaboard is lit up as users activate their Droid. Europe and Asia are still showing comparatively modest activity at this point. It starts to grow a bit and activity spreads to South America, Africa and Australia.
In early June, the Samsung Galaxy S launches in dozens of countries. The immediate impact is nowhere near as impressive as the Droid's launch, but in the US, Europe and the rest of the world, there is definitely an impact.
The video then replays the data three more times, focusing first on the US, then Europe and finally Asia. It is mesmerizing to watch how the data is played out geographically. I'd like to see the same video in a year or two documenting the launch of Android based tablets.
